Why do long distance relationships seem easier for some guys and not others?
It all comes down to understanding the right ways to approach the most common obstacles.
But there is a problem…
Most of us don’t even know what to do when we are in it. Only when it is over can we look at it from the other side and think about how we could have handled the situation differently.
It is time to change it. Here’s our long distance relationship advice for guys to navigate the better way forward.

1. Having the right mindset and attitude
In just a few words, it means treating the relationship as a real relationship, and wondering about the future of the relationship instead of fearing the uncertainty.
Also choose to be happy in your love life NOW, instead of suffering now and waiting to be happy when you meet or close the distance.
This brings us to another mindset that “enjoys” the intensity of long-distance love. There are very few things in life that make us feel anything like a long-distance relationship. It’s amazing to talk about but the highs and lows need to be accepted AND enjoyed.
2. Change and adjust how you communicate
This means establishing communication channels in each specific situation and becoming good at communication/communication.
I want to say a long distance relationship – “5-in-1 relationship”. Simply because we mostly interact with each other in five different ways or mediums:
- Messaging
- Voice calls
- Video calls
- Email / letter, and
- Meeting face to face
Some couples use all of these communication methods, others just a few of them. The important part is to DO the right communication in each of the forms you choose.
For example, learning to write in an interesting way. Like sending a variety of texts, not sending too many texts to overwhelm your partner (especially when she doesn’t respond), not getting upset when she doesn’t get a quick text response, etc.
Children should learn to:
- They can express their feelings
- “Be right” on Facebook.
- Enjoy video calls
- Continue the conversation
- Work on getting the most out of your visits, etc.
By mastering each of these forms of connection, long distance dating can be really fun and easy.
3. Learn to Solve Problems and Conflicts
As with any other relationship, various problems arise. Plus a few more because of the distance.
You don’t need to know how to overcome them. But being willing and open to finding the best way to handle them can have a huge impact on the survival rates of long-distance relationships.
Examples of these problems are jealousy, constant fights, boring conversations, lack of attraction to one’s partners, the courage to be apart for so long.
The good news is that each of these challenges have been faced and overcome by other couples that we can learn from.

4. Work hard to keep the spark alive
As you’ve already seen, my approach to making love come alive is simply about balancing satisfaction and challenge. I believe that this is the best and most practical way to work consciously instead of guessing the recipe for love.
You want to satisfy your partner by being romantic and affectionate with them – “speaking” their love language, showing that you care on a daily basis, and generally constantly looking for ways to be a part of their life.
But, you need to learn to balance satisfaction with challenge, by having standards and boundaries, building curiosity, playing with your partner, increasing diversity in the relationship, and more.
What is the result?
- Having the right mindset allows one to trust their long-distance relationships.
- Knowing how to connect and communicate long distance makes dating fun and easy.
- Navigating problems quickly makes dating less stressful, and
- Living the love makes it all worth the effort!
Now the question is…
Is your long-distance relationship worth it and are you willing to put in the effort it takes to make it work?
